Battleship North Carolina

When I was 20 years old, during my National Service in the Royal Air Force, I built a Revell plastic construction kit of the North Carolina. I was reminded of this when I visited Ray Guinta and he gave me a book and a set of plans for the North Carolina battleship.
The book contained five photographs of the ship taken in Puget Sound, 1944. The ship had just been refitted and repainted with a new camouflage scheme.

The ship is currently berthed at Wilmington, North Carolina and is still painted in the same camouflage scheme.

I have just started to build a 7ft 7in long model of the ship, at a scale of 1:96. I have researched the history and particulars of the ship using the information contained on the website, purchased four books, and a set of plans from the Floating Dry Dock website. It is going to take quite a few years to complete.
