| Koos van
Oosten lives in the city of Alkmaar in the province of Noord
Holland.
Before he started to build the model he did some research on the original ship. After reading an article in Model Boats magazine, he obtained a copy of "Tribute to a Flower" by Ron Horabin, which tells the story of the vessel from 1942 up to 1980. Also information was obtained from two other books, "Warship Perspectives Flower Class Corvettes in World War Two" by John Lambert and "Corvettes of the Royal Canadian Navy 1939 - 1945" by Ken Macpherson and Marc Miller. Koos started to build this Martinson kit in June 1998. The model is powered by a two stroke Cheddar Models Puffin Steam engine, with a boiler made by a member of SMG IJmond (Scheeps Modelbouw Groep IJmond), of which Koos is also a member. |
