Pacific Banner - Additional Research
The past few months have been a time for doing more research on the project. The current climate in England is cold and with there being no heating in my garage come workshop I do not want to be building at this time. I have therefore turned my attentions to finding more information about the vessel I am constructing.
Additional Research

I started with a search on the internet with the words "Pacific Banner". This brought up thousands of entries, but near the top of the list was the site for Marex Marine and Safety Services. Their website has daily photographs of the vessels entering and leaving Aberdeen Harbour. On the 8th of June 2001 the "Pacific Banner" was photographed in the harbour. A shot from the stern looking forward. After a good look around this site I found other information regarding the UT720 ships of Swire Pacific Offshore.

I decided to contact Vic Gibson of Marex Marine and Safety Services to see whether they had any other photographs of the ship. A few days past and I received an email from Vic Gibson saying that he would dig out the photos they had, but also that he would go an photograph the ship when he got the chance.

Going back to my search results I found a site Alans Boat Yard, by Alan Rose of Essex that contained a photo of "Pacific Banner" in Aberdeen harbour. At this point I contacted Alan via email asking him if he had any further photographs of "Pacific Banner"

To my surprise I received a reply telling me that he had over eighty photographs of the ship, has he had been on board and that I could have a full set of prints if I wished.

Once again I went back to look through the internet search results and found another website for JMD Ship photos where I could obtain 6 x 4 inch prints of not only "Pacific Banner", but three of the sister ships as well, the Pacific Blade, Pacific Barbarian and Pacific Buccaneer.

I contacted James Dodds via email and received a total of nine prints in the post a couple of days later.

Up to this point I was thinking I had bitten off more than I could chew. That's because I hadn't really found enough information about the vessel So I could build a model that included the detail I like to included.

This last two months of searching as proved very fruitful, has I have made contact with a number of people that have supplied me with a large amount of information.

Their generosity in providing information will help me to push on with the building of the model when the weather gets warmer.  For now I can spend the next few months studying the photographs I have received.

I would like to thank, Vic Gibson, Alan Rose, David and James Dodds.
